Privacy policy
Last updated 26 October 2026
The short version
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking, and we never sell anything about you.
- Names, ages, pictures and answers only live in your game room, and the room is deleted 6 hours after the last game.
- Pictures are optional. You can pick an animal instead of a photo.
- If you buy the full game, the app store takes the payment. We never see card details.
Who we are
Hubbub is made by Stackless, run by Daham Mohammed in Coventry, United Kingdom. We decide how the information described here is used (we are the "controller" under UK data protection law). Questions or requests: hello@familygame.co.uk.
What we use while you play
To join a game on your phone you type a name and an age. During the game we use:
- Name: shown on the TV and the other phones. A nickname is fine, and we suggest one for children.
- Age: turned into an age group (6 and under, 7–9, 10–12, 13–17, adult) so everyone gets questions they can answer.
- Picture (optional): an animal, or a selfie or photo if you choose one. Photos are shrunk to a small square on your phone before they are sent.
- What you do in the game: answers, votes, drawings, typed answers and scores, shown on the TV to the people in the room.
- A random code that lets your phone rejoin the same room if it loses connection.
We use this only to run the game you are playing. Nobody outside your room can see it, and we don't look at it.
How long we keep it
Everything above is kept in your game room on Cloudflare's servers. A room is deleted completely, with every name, picture and answer in it, 6 hours after it was last used. A player's photo is deleted sooner if the TV removes them.
What stays on your own devices
Your phone remembers your name, age, picture and language in its browser storage, so you don't have to type them again next time. The TV remembers its language and current room. This never leaves your device except when you join a game. To remove it, clear the site data for Hubbub in your browser or clear the app's data. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Buying the full game or a pack
Some games and seasonal packs can be unlocked with a one-time purchase. Payment is handled by the store you buy from (Amazon, Google, Samsung, LG or another TV store), or by Stripe on our website. We receive a receipt so we can unlock the games: an order or purchase number, what was bought, when, and a random ID for your TV. We keep these for as long as the purchase is valid, so it can be restored if you reinstall. We never receive card details.
Services that help run Hubbub
- Cloudflare hosts the game and its rooms. Like any website, it receives your device's IP address to send the game to it, and keeps short technical logs (a few days) that we use to fix errors.
- Google Fonts (the lettering), jsDelivr (the world map in Map Pin) and flagcdn (flag pictures) receive your device's IP address when those files load.
- The app stores and Stripe handle payments under their own privacy policies.
Children
Hubbub is made for families to play together, with an adult hosting on the TV. We don't ask for real names, email addresses or locations, show no ads, build no profiles and offer no chat with strangers: only people who can see your TV's room code can join. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to delete anything about their child.
Why we are allowed to use it
We use game information because it is needed to give you the game you asked to play, and purchase receipts to provide what you bought. We keep technical logs because we have a legitimate interest in keeping Hubbub working and safe.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete information about you, or object to how we use it. Email hello@familygame.co.uk. Because rooms delete themselves within 6 hours, there is usually nothing left to find after that. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Big changes will be shown in the game too.
